Box Score PALATINE, IL-Â The Harper College men's soccer team lost to N4C opponent Joliet Junior College by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday.
In a match that was filled with first half action, the Joliet Junior College Wolves got the scoring started early with a goal in the second minute. The Hawks got their chance to tie the score in the 15th minute when
Jorge Nambo (/Barrington) took a free kick from 40 yards away and set up
Raphael de Souza () for a nice right foot finish into the far post. Harper would then see their first lead of the game 9 minutes later when
Ricky Gonzalez () fed a pass to
Pedro Botello () who went across the box and sent a right foot shot off the near post and ricocheted into the net.
However, the Hawks would then see their lead disappear as Joliet scored three straight goals between the 24th and 42nd minute, including one on a penalty kick after a yellow card was given to
Sebastian Cajiao (). Trailing 4-2, the Hawks would not give up and got their third goal of the match on a corner kick in the 43rd minute.Â
Ben Poder () served the ball to
Ivan Perez (), who's shot missed but ended up right on the foot of
Noah Ozbag () who found the back of the net. Harper would then tie the game at 4 in the last 30 seconds of the half on another corner. Nambo played the corner short to Perez who was able to beat the goalie near post, despite the goalie getting a hand on it.
The tie would stand until after halftime but the Wolves took the lead again, giving the match it's final score of 5-4 in favor of Joliet. With the loss, the Hawks move to 4-3-1 (1-2-1 N4C) on the season. Harper continues their long string of road matches on Friday, as they travel to Milwaukee to take on the MATC Stormers at 4pm.
