PALATINE, IL-  The Harper College men's soccer team hosted the Golden Eagles from Rock Valley College on Tuesday.  At the final whistle, the Hawks were able to hold on for a 2-1 conference win.

The Hawks saw plenty of opportunity in the first half, putting 14 shots up and 4 on net.  However, the RVC keeper was up to the task and kept Harper off the board.  Harper goalkeeper Kevin Sieb (Huntley) was equally as good, as he made saves on all 3 shots the Golden Eagles put his way.

The second half saw more of the same, as neither team was able to find the back of the net early.  However, the Hawks were able to come through when Jose Mariscal (Wheeling) took a Jose Garcia-Lopez (Wheeling) pass and Mariscal finished the goal.  Less than ten minutes later, Harper would double their lead when Garcia-Lopez found Ricardo Gonzalez (Palatine) for the second goal of the match.  The Golden Eagles would show some late fight and spoiled the shutout in the 87th minute but Harper was able to finish off the 2-1 win.

The win moved the Hawks' record to 5-4-2 overall and 4-4-1 in N4C play.  Harper's next match will be on Friday as they travel to Wisconsin to face off with the Madison College WolfPack.  Kick-off is scheduled for 6pm.
