Harper College lost to Southwestern Michigan 22-25, 25-27, 16-25
Benton Harbor, MI: Last year, Harper volleyball defeated this Southwestern Michigan College first year volleyball program, with nearly all-first-year players in a close match in 5 sets. This year, many of those 1st year players are now 2nd year players, and this year Harper Volleyball struggled to a 22-25, 25-27, 16-25 loss.

In the first set, scores were level at 2-2 and 10-10, when
Stacy Maimur clobbered a smash. There were additional ties at 11-11, 12-12 and 16-16 before Taylor Knuth served twice to take a slim 18-16 lead. Southwestern Michigan tied the score at 19-19, 21-21 and 22-22, before Harper fell 22-25. Knuth was in high-gear with 7 kills. Regina Anelli added 4 kills. Ava Belluomini and Abby Major each had 6 digs.

In the second set, Harper took a major 8-1 lead. But in the next rotation, Southwestern Michigan tied the score at 8-8. There were more ties at 9-9, 10-10, 16-16, 18-18, and then 21-21, 22-22, 24-24, and 25-25, before Southwestern Michigan won the last two points and the second set. Knuth added 7 more kills in this set.
Anelli added 3 kills of her own. Cana Jones had 5 digs. Jones was 8-9 serving.

In the last set, Harper started out behind 1-3, and just couldn't close the gap at 11-15, 25-16, 25-20 on the way to a 16-25 loss.
Belluomini had 4 kills, while Knuth also had 4 kills, and Anelli added her 2 kills for this set. Knuth led Harper with 4 digs. Anelli was 6-6 serving with 2 aces.
