Harper Volleyball defeated Olive-Harvey 25-16, 25-17, 25-21

Chicago, IL: After a long drive into the city, Harper Volleyball and Olive-Harvey matched points at 3-3, 4-4 and 5-5.  Then Eden Suh served Harper to a 9-5 lead.  The teams played point for point at 12-6, 18-13, and 19-14.  At 20-16, Olive-Harvey called timeout, and Harper finished the match with the last 5 points to win 25-16.  Ava Belluomini and Taylor Knuth each had 4 kills.  Regina Anelli added 3 kills, and setter Suh ended the set with 14 assists.  Abby Major and Anelli were both busy defensively with 6 digs each.  Belluomini added 5 digs of her own.  Suh was 5-6 serving with 2 aces.

In the second set, Harper fell behind early 1-5.  It took all the way to 9-9 before Harper could level the score.  More ties at 10-10 and 12-12 ensued.  Harper took a 15-12 lead and extended to 21-14 for a 25-17 win.  Stacy Maimur got into the act with 3 kills on 4 swings.  And Anelli added 4 kills of her own.  Anelli was 5-5 serving with an ace.

In the third set, Harper started out behind, again at 3-6, 5-10 and 9-15. This time Harper called a timeout, and sprinted to the end for a 25-21 win.  Belluomini finished strong with 6 kills in the final set and finished the match with 11 kills. Knuth had 4 kills, her last one gave her 10 kills for the match.  Anelli ad 8 more digs in this final set for 18 total digs for the match.  Knuth added 4 digs to complete her statistical double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs.  Suh was 7-8 serving.  For the match, Suh led Harper with 19 serves, including 2 aces.  Belluomini was 14-14 serving with an ace.  Anelli finished 10-10 serving with 2 aces.

 

Next match is tomorrow night at Harper College against Milwaukee Area Technical College, 6:00 p.m. game time.
