DIII Harper College defeated DII Black Hawk 3-1 (18-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-23)
In the first set, Harper Volleyball was very sluggish. The score was level at 3-3 and 4-4, but Harper fell way behind in like (technical term) one fell swoop, 4-12. Harper's comeback attempt just simply failed with scores of 7-15, 8-18 and 9-19 on the way to an 18-25 loss. Obrzut continued her good defensive day with 9 digs.

In the second set, Harper Volleyball focused and led 5-1, and extended to 8-2, 11-3, 15-5 and 20-9 on the way to a 25-14 win. Knuth was on fire in this second set with 6 kills on 8 attacks, plus was involved in 4 block kills. Knuth added 5 digs. Anelli was 9-9 serving with 3 aces.

Set 3 was one of  those instant, well-played matches by both teams classics. Harper led early at 4-1, but Black Hawk tied the score at 7-7, 8-8, 10-10, 11-11, 12-12, 13-13, 14-14, 15-15, and 16-16, before Harper took a slim and timely 19-16 lead. But… Black Hawk wasn't going to give up, and tied the score at 20-20, 21-21, and 22-22. Then Black Hawk lost its grip 22-25 in this pivotal 3rd set.  Anelli had 4 kills on 8 swings. Knuth added 3 kills and another block.
Jones, playing defense on the right side had 7 digs, while Knuth added 6 digs.

With a 2-1 set lead, Harper started out at 4-4, but took a slim 10-7 lead. Black Hawk tied the score again at 10-10, 12-12, 13-13 and 14-14, before Harper jumped ahead 18-14, 21-15, 22-19 on the way to a 25-23 win. Knuth continued her indomitable play with another 6 kills for a team-high 18 kills for the match. Jones dug up another 5 digs for 18 digs for the match. Obrzut added 3 digs for 20 digs for the match. Anelli was 6-7 serving with an ace; Anelli was 21-23 serving with 4 aces for the match. Knuth was 19-19 serving with 3 aces for the match.

Some statistical notes…

Eden Suh is leading the country in assists, and just went over 1000 assists for the year in today's match.
Knuth has double digit kills in all of her matches but one, and has 15 matches with over 10 digs, so Knuth now has 15 statistical "double-doubles" for the season.

Next match for Harper Volleyball will be Tuesday at Harper College at 6:00 p.m. against Elgin.
