Harper College snatched the lead late in the game in an 18-12 victory over Triton College on Monday. The game was tied at ten with Harper College batting in the top of the sixth when
Tommy Jusi (Hoffman Estates, IL/Fremd High School) drew a walk, scoring one run. Jusi was perfect on the day, reaching base all 5 times (2/2, 2BB, HBP, 3R, 2RBI) and also made a huge defensive play in to save a sure hit with the bases loaded and two outs in the second inning.
Nic Castrovillari (Hanover Park, IL/Bartlett High School) &
Justin Gadomski (Schaumburg, IL/Schaumburg High School) each collected four hits in five at bats to help lead Harper College to victory.
After Harper College scored two runs in the top of the fourth, Triton answered with two of their own. Harper scored when Castrovillari tripled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run and
Micah O'Neal (Forest Park, IL/Guerin Prep High School) followed suit with a triple of his own to drive him in. Triton College Baseball then answered when Jorgie Vazquez delivered a two run double.
Triton College Baseball scored six runs in the second inning on only one hit. Sam Del Valle, Camden Karczewski, Antoine Harris, Noah Jouras, and Gonzalez all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Connor Fitzgerald started on the pitcher's mound for Harper. The sophomore surrendered six runs on one hit over one and one-third innings, striking out one.
Jermaine Salcedo (Arlington Heights, IL/Rolling Meadows High School) and
Antonio DeBartolo (Arlington Heights, IL/Rolling Meadows High School) each threw multiple innings in relief. DeBartolo earned his first collegiate win by limiting the Triton offense is 2 runs in his 3.1 innings of work.
