Game Recap: Baseball |

The Air Was Cold, But the Hawk Bats Were Hot

Harper College snatched the lead late in the game in an 18-12 victory over Triton College on Monday.  The game was tied at ten with Harper College batting in the top of the sixth when Tommy Jusi (Hoffman Estates, IL/Fremd High School) drew a walk, scoring one run. Jusi was perfect on the day, reaching base all 5 times (2/2, 2BB, HBP, 3R, 2RBI) and also made a huge defensive play in to save a sure hit with the bases loaded and two outs in the second inning.

Nic Castrovillari (Hanover Park, IL/Bartlett High School) & Justin Gadomski (Schaumburg, IL/Schaumburg High School) each collected four hits in five at bats to help lead Harper College to victory.

After Harper College scored two runs in the top of the fourth, Triton answered with two of their own.  Harper scored when Castrovillari tripled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run and Micah O'Neal (Forest Park, IL/Guerin Prep High School) followed suit with a triple of his own to drive him in. Triton College Baseball then answered when Jorgie Vazquez delivered a two run double.

Triton College Baseball scored six runs in the second inning on only one hit. Sam Del Valle, Camden Karczewski,  Antoine Harris, Noah Jouras, and Gonzalez all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Connor Fitzgerald started on the pitcher's mound for Harper. The sophomore surrendered six runs on one hit over one and one-third innings, striking out one. Jermaine Salcedo (Arlington Heights, IL/Rolling Meadows High School) and Antonio DeBartolo (Arlington Heights, IL/Rolling Meadows High School) each threw multiple innings in relief. DeBartolo earned his first collegiate win by limiting the Triton offense is 2 runs in his 3.1 innings of work.

Harper College had 19 hits in the game.  Castrovillari, Justin Gadomski (Schaumburg, IL/Schaumburg High School), O'Neal, George Betevis (Hanover Park, IL/Bartlett High School), Jusi, and Ehinger Adrianza (Miami, FL/Felix Varela Senior High) each managed multiple hits for Harper College.
