Hawks Come Out Swinging, Win Region 4 Playoff Game

Odeshoo leads the charge with 6 RBI

Kyle Odeshoo (Arlington Heights, Illinois/Prospect High School) drove in six on two hits to lead Harper College past Waubonsee 12-8 on Thursday.

There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Harper College collected 11 hits and Waubonsee Chiefs had eight.

Harper College got things started in the first inning when George Betevis (Hanover Park, IL/Bartlett High School) led off the game with a homerun to leftfield. Kyle Odeshoo (Arlington Heights, Illinois/Prospect High School) delivered the big blow of the inning with a 3 run no-doubter well over the fence in left-center.

The Hawks notched four runs in the seventh inning.  The big inning was thanks to a sacrifice fly by Justin Gadomski (Schaumburg, IL/Schaumburg High School) and a bases loaded, base clearing double by Odeshoo.

Waubonsee scored three runs in the seventh inning.  The big inning for Waubonsee Chiefs came thanks to a walk by Matt Bivens and a single by Lukas Haddox.

Quinton Johnston (Sarnia, ON (CA)/Great Lakes Secondary School) got the win for Harper College. The pitcher went three innings, allowing three runs on three hits.  Connor Fitzgerald, Jason Gutkowski (Roselle, IL/Lake Park High School), and Brandon West (Chicago, IL/Lake View High School) all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.

Michael Budorick (Glenview, IL/Glenbrook South), Odeshoo, and Tyler Spiecker (Romeoville, IL/Romeoville High School) all managed multiple hits for Harper College.

Harper advances to play College of DuPage at 3:30 PM.
