Harper Volleyball defeated Elgin 25-7, 25-8, 25-7
Monday, Aug 28, 6:00 p.m. at Elgin Community College, Elgin, IL: Harper defeated Elgin 25-7, 25-8, 25-7.

In the first set, Harper took an early lead at 6-3 when Elgin called a timeout. Harper extended the lead to 15-4 when Elgin called a second timeout. Behind Taylor Knuth's serving Harper went on to a 21-5 lead before winning 25-7. Knuth was on fire with 7 kills on 9 swings. Harper was practicing it's middle attack tonight. Eden Suh had 11 assists. Knuth went crazy at the service line with 15-15 serving with 6 aces.

In the second set, Harper took another early lead, 7-1, behind Cana Jones' serving. Harper extended to 15-3 behind another strong serving run from Knuth. Harper subsequently won 25-8. Regina Anelli led Harper with 4 kills on 6 attacks. Ava Belluomini added 3 kills on 4 swings. Jones stepped into the serving fray with 7-7 serving and 4 aces. And not to be outdone, Asia Williams was 15-16 serving (no aces). Knuth added 3 more aces. Jasmine Nitu led Harper with 4 digs.

In the final set, Harper coasted to a 25-7 win. In this last set, Knuth had 8 kills on 11 swings, and setter Suh added 16 assists (of Harper's 25 points). Anelli added 5 more kills, this time on 7 swings. Nitu led Harper again with 6 digs for a match-high 10 digs. 

For the match, Harper had 16 aces on 70 of 73 serving (a blistering 96%). Knuth ended this match with 15 kills and 4 errors for a mere .550 efficiency (Kills – errors / total attacks). Setter Suh had 34 assists (11.33 assists/set).


Harper Volleyball's HOME opener is tomorrow, 6:00 p.m. in the Foglia Foundation Health and Recreation Center (Building M). The game will be streamed live on HUDL @Harper Hawks channel, beginning at 5:30 p.m. This is the stationary camera up high in the side of the Harper Gymnasium.
