Tuesday, Sept 12, 6:00 p.m. at South Suburban College: In the first set, scores were tied at 3-3 and 8-8. Harper took leads of 14-9, and 21-14, before winning 25-15. Taylor Knuth led Harper with 4 kills and 1.5 blocks. Claudia Lysek, playing defensive specialist in this match, led Harper with 4 digs, and was 5-5 serving with 2 aces. Cana Jones was 7-7 serving with an ace.

In the second set, Harper took a 10-5 lead, lost focus on the next 4 points, and led just 10-9… then Harper moved ahead 14-9 and 21-13 on the way to a 25-16 win. In this set, Ava Belluomini came alive with 3 kills and 1.5 blocks, and led Harper with 4 digs. Jones was 5-5 serving with another ace. Lysek was 4-4 serving with another ace.

In the last set, there were ties at 2-2 and 4-4. Harper took a 9-6 lead, and extended to 13-9, before South Suburban tied the score at 17-17 and 23-23. South Suburban missed a crucial serve to give Harper a one-point edge, and then Knuth and Eden Suh teamed up for a game winning block for Harper. In this last set, Stacy Maimur had 4 kills on 5 swings to lead Harper. Knuth chipped in 4 digs and was 5-5 serving with an ace. For the match, Knuth was 14-15 serving with 3 aces. In this final set, Claudia was 4-4 serving with an ace, finishing up 13-13 with 4 aces for the match.



Next match will be Thursday, 6:00 p.m. at Prairie State College.

South Suburban will be at Harper as part of a Tri-Match (with St. Ambrose University) on Saturday, September 23. Game times for Harper that day will be 10:00 a.m. v South Suburban, and 2:00 p.m. (ish), against St. Ambrose JV.
