Palatine, IL:
Harper Volleyball played very well tonight in front of a LARGE crowd with major support from other Harper Athletic teams. It was an excellent volleyball environment in the BIG gymnasium, tonight. Coach Bob Vilsoet noted, "We really appreciate the support the volleyball team gets from the other athletes here at Harper College!  It makes it more difficult for opposing teams to win, here!"

In the first set, Harper started out on-fire with a 3-0 lead, but then lost the next 5 of 6 points and called a timeout to reset. Subsequently, the score was tied at 9-9, 12-12, 13-13 and 15-15. Harper took a slim 18-15 lead, then 21-16 on the way to a 25-18 win.
Regina Anelli and Taylor Knuth led Harper with 3 kills. Cana Jones led Harper with 6-6 serving. Anelli and Eden Suh each added an ace.

In the second set, Harper led by four points 6-2, 8-4, and extended to a 6-point lead, 16-10, 18-12 and then 20-13 on a highlight film shot, before winning 25-17.
Knuth was sensational in this set with 8 consecutive kills. Abby Major led harper with 6 digs. Jones and Anelli each were 5-5 serving, but alas, no aces this set.

Ahead 2-0 in the match, in the third set, Harper fell behind 0-5. Harper struggled and struggled to catch up, and could only get as close as 13-15. Joliet enjoyed extending to 4- and 5-point leads at 13-18 and 15-20 before winning 16-25. Knuth led Harper again with another 4 kills. Jones was 6-6 serving with 2 aces, and led Harper with 4 digs.

In the final match, Harper turned the tables and took a 5-0 lead and missed a serve, then extended to 8-2 and missed another serve, then led 11-4 and 17-9 before winning 25-11.
Ava Belluomini got into the act with 3 kills. Knuth added 3 more kills and a block to finish the match with 18 kills and 2.5 blocks. Anelli was 6-6 serving with 2 aces. Jones was 6-7 serving with 3 aces.

Jones had a great match with 23-24 serving, 11 digs, and 5 aces. Knuth led Harper with 18 kills and just 3 errors.
Major also had 11 digs for the match, and was 15-15 serving. Anelli was 18-18 serving with 3 aces and 7 digs. It turned out to be a real team effort tonight. Joliet is a very good volleyball team as well this year!
