Hawks Volleyball Splits Tri Match

vs. Lake Michigan, October 26, 2024, at Harper College
Final Score: Lake Michigan defeated Harper 25-23, 25-22, 16-25, 25-19


Set 1: A tight contest saw Harper keeping pace with Lake Michigan, tying the score at key points (4-4, 6-6, 18-18). Despite a powerful six-kill streak from
Morgan Krieter, Harper narrowly lost the set 23-25 after two consecutive overpasses. Evie Mounts and Maya Sokolowski each contributed three kills, while setter Phoebe Kim tallied 13 assists. Abby Major served perfectly, going 6-for-6, though Harper only managed 8 digs defensively.
Set 2: Harper fought to catch up from an early deficit (3-7, 8-14), but ultimately fell short, losing 22-25.
Mounts and Sokolowski continued to make an impact, with Mounts adding three kills and a block. Sokolowski maintained consistency with another perfect serving stretch (8-for-8).
Set 3: Harper rallied to take the third set 25-16, thanks in large part to
Abbie Greenberg, who came off the bench with an impressive 7 kills on 10 attacks and a block. Krieter kept up the offensive momentum with another six kills, while Mira Tchohadjieva contributed two blocks. Sokolowski was flawless in serving once again (7-for-7 with an ace), and Harper's defense surged, posting 18 digs in this set.
Set 4: Despite a determined effort, Harper fell behind early and ultimately lost 19-25.
Krieter capped her outstanding performance with four additional kills, bringing her match total to 19. Greenberg also added four more kills and a block, while Lauren Ahlstedt added three kills to round out Harper's effort.

Krieter led with a match-high 19 kills, while Greenberg's contributions off the bench helped ignite Harper's third-set win.

Set 1: Harper dominated the first set, establishing a lead at 9-6 and extending it to 17-9 before closing with a 25-13 victory.
Major contributed with a flawless 5-for-5 serving, including two aces. Krieter led with 5 kills, and Greenberg added 4 kills and a block.
Set 2: The second set was a tighter battle, featuring nine ties up to 16-16. Harper pulled ahead to win 25-18, with
Krieter adding another four kills. Tchohadjieva made her presence known with three powerful kills.
Set 3: Harper maintained control in the third set, building leads at 15-10 and 20-16 before sealing the set 25-20.
Krieter continued her strong performance with four more kills, and Tchohadjieva added three kills and two blocks. Major was active defensively, recording nine digs.

Major and Greenberg each served perfectly, with Major tallying a match-high three aces.

The Hawks will play their last regular season game at home against North Park on Tuesday at 6 PM in the Hawks' Fieldhouse. This will be the Hawks sophomore night as well.
