Harper Volleyball Fights Hard to Close Rock Valley Invite

Rockford, IL: The Rock Valley Invite continued on Saturday for the Hawks as they faced off against D1 Southeastern and Highland.

Result: Harper lost 16-25, 20-25, 23-25.
Harper struggled against Southeastern, losing in straight sets despite a late push in the third. Mira Tchohadjieva was a standout with 8 kills on 22 attempts (18% efficiency), while Morgan Krieter also added 8 kills on 28 swings. Setter Phoebe Kim distributed 28 assists and was a perfect 14-14 from the service line, contributing one of Harper's two aces.

Harper made a late rally in the third set, but missed serves and defensive lapses allowed Southeastern to seal the win.  Harper's defense was active, with Abby Major leading the team with 7 digs, and both Kaylee Obrzut and Krieter adding 6 and 5 digs, respectively.

Result: Harper lost 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 25-13, 14-16.
Harper battled through five sets against Highland but fell short in a nail-biting finale. The Hawks won the first and fourth sets convincingly but couldn't close it out in the fifth. Krieter had a stellar match, leading the team with 19 kills on 45 attempts (31% efficiency), and she recorded a double-double with 11 digs. Tchohadjieva followed closely with 16 kills at an impressive 52% efficiency. Setter Kim ran a balanced offense with 57 assists, adding 10 digs for a double-double. Defensively, Major was a standout with 26 digs. Despite Harper's strong hitting in the fifth set, Highland edged them 16-14 to take the match.
