Hawks Stumble Against Spartans in 106-90 Loss

Palatine, IL: The Hawks men's basketball team fell to the Elgin Spartans, 106-90, in a fast-paced matchup that left the Hawks scrambling from the start. Elgin's relentless tempo and swarming defense caused significant trouble for Harper, as the Spartans forced a staggering 31 turnovers.  

Amari Northcutt led the way for the Hawks with a strong all-around performance, contributing 20 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds. Three other Hawks joined him in double figures, with Luke Sinisa adding 17 points, Joe Calombo Kimbirima scoring 14, and Andre Anderson chipping in 11 points along with 7 assists. Despite these efforts, Harper struggled to keep up with the Spartans' high-octane style.  

Elgin's Davee Flowers delivered a dominant performance, flirting with a quadruple-double as he poured in 38 points, 9 rebounds, 10 assists, and 8 steals. His dynamic play set the tone for the Spartans and kept the Hawks on their heels throughout the contest.  

The Hawks, who possess the talent to thrive, will need to look inward to address their slow starts and lack of early energy. With a renewed focus on ball security and defensive intensity, they have the potential to bounce back and make a strong push this season. Their next contest will be on Thursday at Illinois Valley.
