Hawks WBB Fall to Spartans

Palatine, IL: The Hawks women's basketball team suffered a tough loss to the Elgin Spartans on Tuesday night, falling 89-54 at home and dropping to 1-5 on the season.  

Xzandria Turner delivered a near triple-double, leading the Hawks with 17 points, 11 rebounds, and a Hawks Fieldhouse record of nine assists. Ashley Harrison and Meghan Ewanio also contributed double-digit scoring efforts, each finishing with 10 points. Harrison showed her range by hitting 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.  

Despite Harper's efforts, the Spartans' balanced attack proved too much. Elgin had five players score in double figures, led by Valeria Costilla's game-high 26 points. Mia Calderon and Abigail Esparza were lethal from long range, knocking down five and four three-pointers, respectively, to help secure the victory.  


The Hawks will look to bounce back in their next game against Illinois Valley on Thursday.
