Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hawks MBB Loses by Combined 11 Points Over 3 Games

Palatine, IL: The Harper Hawks men's basketball team faced a tough week, playing three games and narrowly losing each by four points or less. Despite the outcomes, the team's effort and competitiveness were on full display, showing progress from last season.

Game 1: vs. Oakton
The Hawks hosted Oakton to kick off the week, building a narrow 32-30 halftime lead. However, they couldn't hold on in the second half, falling 65-62 in a nail-biter.
Andre Anderson delivered a standout performance with 23 points, while Luke Sinisa anchored the team with 7 points and 11 rebounds.

Game 2: at Daley
The Hawks hit the road to take on Daley and came out strong, leading 42-34 at halftime. But Daley's second-half surge edged out the Hawks, resulting in a 69-65 loss.
Sinisa had a monster game with 19 points, 20 rebounds, and 6 assists. Connor Pritchard (13), Amari Northcutt (11), and Daniel Tewogbade (10) also contributed double-digit scoring efforts in a balanced attack.

Game 3: vs. Illinois Valley
Back at home, the Hawks faced Illinois Valley in another closely contested matchup. After trailing 25-24 at the break, the Hawks battled hard in the second half but came up just short, losing 60-56.
Sinisa once again led the team, posting 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals and blocks each in a well-rounded effort.

Team Progress
While the Hawks sit at 2-7 on the season, their improvement is evident. Through nine games last year, the team was 3-6 but losing by an average of 20.5 points in those losses. This season, the Hawks have been more competitive, with their seven losses coming by an average of under seven points. Four of those losses have been decided by just four points or fewer, signaling a more cohesive and resilient squad. The Hawks are poised to turn their hard-fought efforts into wins as they continue their season.

They have a tough week ahead with three road games, first going to McHenry County on Tuesday, then Morton on Thursday, and then wrapping up the week with fifth ranked Parkland.
