Hawks WBB Drop Close Contests to Daley and Illinois Valley

Palatine, IL: The Harper Hawks women's basketball team endured a tough stretch this week, falling in back-to-back games to Daley and Illinois Valley. Despite strong efforts in both contests, the Hawks couldn't close out either matchup, slipping to 1-9 on the season.

Daley 34, Harper 29
In a defensive battle on Thursday night, the Hawks fell short against the Bulldogs on the road, 34-29. Harper dominated the glass, winning the rebounding battle by a significant margin, including an impressive 15 offensive rebounds. Unfortunately, the Hawks struggled to turn those second-chance opportunities into points, scoring just 6 points.

Turnovers proved costly, as the Bulldogs capitalized on the Hawk's mistakes, scoring 17 points off turnovers to edge out the win. Despite their struggles, the Hawks showcased tenacity on the boards but couldn't overcome their offensive inconsistencies.

Illinois Valley 34, Harper 33
In Saturday's home game, the Hawks battled the Eagles down to the wire but came up just short in a 34-33 nail-biter. The Hawks' defense shined, forcing 26 turnovers to keep the game within reach.
Caroline Lucas led the defensive charge with five steals, setting the tone for Harper's scrappy play.

Despite their defensive prowess, the Hawks couldn't capitalize on key opportunities late in the game, allowing the Eagles to escape with the one-point victory.

Harper will look to regroup as they prepare for an away game at McHenry County on Tuesday.
