Hawks Win Second of Double-Header Against Triton

River Grove, IL: The Hawks won the second of a double-header against DI Triton on Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks once again scored in the first inning, extending their streak to seven games.

This time, they put down a lead quickly to give starting pitcher
Mason Hulligan some breathing room. Brian Jensen started the rally with a RBI single followed by extra base hits by Luke Read and Cole Ratliff each scoring two. Read doubled while Ratliff tripled.

In the third, the Hawks scored mainly due to base running and fielding errors by the Trojans. On a stolen base by Read, an error by
Keyber Rodriguez led to Jensen reaching home from third. Read advanced to third on the error. After Samuel Del Valle reached first on a walk, the Hawks ran a double steal with Del Valle nagging second while Read came home. This would extend the Hawks' lead to 7-1.

Hulligan earned the win going six innings giving up two runs on five hits. He struck out four along the way. Quinton Johnston came in for the save as Jermaine Salcedo got into some trouble in the seventh.

Jensen went 2 for 3 at the plate for the Hawks to set the tone while Read had two RBIs and two steals. Ratliff drove in two runs as well.

There is something to be said for the Hawks fielding as well as they completed their first game of the season without an error.

The Hawks will look to build some momentum as they travel to DI foe
South Suburban on Tuesday afternoon at 3 PM.
