Hawks Overcome 8 Run Deficit to Win

Schaumburg, IL: The Hawks went to Boomers Stadium this afternoon for a game against the Oakton Owls. The Hawks won 17-11 after trailing 0-8 and 5-11.

After going scoreless for four innings, the Hawks offense took on life starting with a hard hit single to center by
Samuel Del Valle that scored Brian Jensen. Two batters later and with two outs, the Hawks went on a three run rally. Kaleb Nelson hit a single to left to score Del Valle and Josh Mathew. Quinton Johnston then tripled to bring in Nelson followed by a single by Kyle Odeshoo to score Johnston bringing the score to 5-8.

In the sixth now down 5-11, the Hawks went on another two out rally for five runs.
Tommy Jusi singled to score Nelson, Johnston scored on a passed ball, and Del Valle hit a bases clearing double that brought in Jusi, Jensen, and Mathew.

Going into the seventh down 10-11, Jusi had another RBI single that brought in Johnston.
Odeshoo also scored on a throwing error on the same play to give the Hawks the lead. Jensen hit a sacrifice ground out to bring in Jusi to make it 13-10.

The Hawks weren't done yet with big innings. In the eighth
Cameron King singled to bring in Del Valle. In the next at-bat, Ethan Dorka hit a sacrifice fly to left to bring in Cole Ratliff. After a ground out moved King to third, he scored on a passed ball when Odeshoo was up to bat. On the next pitch, Odeshoo went deep with his third home run of the season to extend the lead to 17-11.

Mason Hulligan started on for the Hawks giving up eight runs with only three being earned. Jermaine Salcedo, Daniel Broeker, Joey Woods, and Antonio DeBartolo all saw relief action with DeBartolo earning the win going five innings. He gave up zero hits with five strikeouts.


The Hawks will have an away double-header at Madison College next on Saturday, April 13th, at 12:00 PM.
