Men's Soccer Starts Season Strong

Box Score Palatine, IL: The Harper Men's Soccer team started the season off strong on Thursday at McHenry County College.

In a fiery contest, the Hawks got on the board first as three goals were scored in 20 minutes. Freshman
Ukyo Takahashi scored first in the 18th minute. McHenry didn't take long to respond with a goal of their own 12 minutes later from sophomore David Aquino. Takahashi wasn't done contributing in the first half as he assisted on the next goal in the 38th minute from freshman Daniel Tewogbade, giving the Hawks a 2-1 lead going into the half. The freshmen combination had more in them as they connected again for another Tewogbade goal early in the second half.

While the scoring ended there, the game continued to be physical and aggressive. The Hawks had a total of 17 fouls in the game and 13 cards were given out between both teams. Each team earned a red card with
Stefan Kokovic now having to miss a game for the Hawks due to his.

Bogdan Simovic gave up one goal while having eight saves in the net.

Last season the Hawks tied the Scots in a scoreless game on August 30th and didn't earn their first win until September 19th against Joliet.

Two days later the Hawks won by forfeit against Daley giving them a 2-0 record. Daley was only able to dress 11 players and didn't want to risk injury without having any substitutions. Harper wishes Daley the best of luck with their season going forward.

The Hawks will play next at Rock Valley College at 4:00 PM on Monday, August 26th.
