Hawks Rally Past Chargers in Overtime Thriller

Palatine, IL: The Hawks men's basketball team overcame a slow start to secure a thrilling overtime victory against the Sandburg Chargers, 68-60. Despite trailing 33-26 at halftime, the Hawks showcased resilience, evening the game by the end of regulation and dominating the extra period, outscoring the Chargers 14-6 in overtime.  

Key to the Hawks' success was their superior size and rebounding, as they crushed the Chargers on the boards, 53-25. Luke Sinisa and Joe Calombo Kimbirima led the charge, each recording a double-double with 16 points. Calombo Kimbirima grabbed 15 rebounds, while Sinisa hauled in 13. Amari Northcutt also contributed 12 points, giving the Hawks three players in double figures.  

Sean Spencer was another force on the glass, collecting 11 rebounds, as the Hawks had three players with double-digit boards. Defensively, Harper showcased balance and intensity, with Northcutt, Spencer, and Connor Pritchard each registering two steals. Sinisa, Spencer, and Ibukunoluwakitan Sonoiki anchored the paint with two blocks apiece.  

Now 1-1 since the turn of the new year, the Hawks aim to build on this gritty performance as they tackle the challenges of their demanding schedule down the stretch. They face DuPage at home on Tuesday, Olive-Harvey in Chicago on Thursday, and #23 ranked Waubonsee in Sugar Grove on Saturday.
