Hawks Outlast Bryant & Stratton in Four-Set Battle

New Berlin, WI: Harper continued its impressive season with a gritty road victory over Bryant & Stratton, winning 25-19, 25-21, 25-27, 25-21 at the OAW Indoor Sports Complex in New Berlin, Wisconsin. The Hawks showed poise and depth throughout the night, battling through long rallies, clutch points, and countless ties, to earn another statement win as postseason play draws closer.

The first set started out with many ties, 2-2, 3-3, 8-8, 10-10 and 12-12, before Harper pulled ahead 18-14, 22-18 and a 25-19 win.
Jocelyn Erling was 8-8 with 6 kills. Mira Tchohadjieva was 6-7 with 4 kills. Ziya Cooks was 4-4 with 2 kills plus 1 ½ blocks. Selin Hurdogan was 5-5 serving with an ace and had 9 digs.

There were even more ties in the second set, and the set stayed close, longer… 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 13-13, 14-14, 15-15, and 16-16; when Harper took a 19-17 lead on a
Tchohadjieva block.  Harper pulled ahead again late in this set to lead 21-17 before winning 25-21. Erling had 4 kills. Cooks and Destiny Parsons each added 3 kills. Ceylin Ertekin was 7-7 serving with an ace and a dig.

Not to be outdone, there were even MORE ties in this 3rd set… 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 11-11, 12-12, 13-13, 14-14, 16-16, 17-17, 18-18, 19-19, 22-22, 23-23 and 24-24 on a
Parsons block after a long exhausting rally. Harper took a 25-24 lead on a Lauren Ahlstedt ace, but Harper lost 25-27. Ahlstedt, Raegan Frappier and Parsons each had 3 kills in this set. Phoebe Kim was 5-5 serving with an ace. I lot of digs happened with Frappier leading the way with 8, Hurdogan 7, and Parsons 6 digs.

In the last set, there were ties at 1-1 and 2-2; Harper pulled within 1 a couple times, 7-8, 10-11, 11-12 before tying it at 12-12, 13-13, and 14-14.  Harper took a slim lead at 16-14, extended to 20-16 on a
Ahlstedt slam. Then Harper won an unusual point after a desperation kick dig followed by Bryant and Stratton setting to a player that tripped accidentally and fell. Frappier was credited with an ace at 24-18, and Harper won this set 25-21. Ahlstedt was 6-8 with 6 kills, Erling had 4 kills Hurdogan added 8 more digs, Erling had 7 digs, and Kim added 6 digs.

Phoebe registered 51 assists on Harper Volleyball's 54 kills.
