Hawks Soar to Two Wins at Home Tri-Match

Palatine, IL: Harper Volleyball dominated its home Tri-Match on Saturday earning two strong four-set victories over Triton and NJCAA DI opponent Olive-Harvey. The Hawks combined powerful serving, balanced offense, and relentless defense to control both matches and extend their winning momentum heading into Sophomore Night.

Harper Volleyball defeated Triton 25-11, 20-25, 25-13, 25-15
In the first set, while both teams relearning about each other, there were ties at 1-1, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 8-8 and 9-9. Harper then got on a roll and took a 19-11 lead behind Ali Pierre's serves.. Ali served 9 servers in a row including 5 aces to win this initial set. Mira Tchohadjieva led Harper with 3 kills. Pierre was 10-10 serving with FIVE aces! Selin Hurdogan had 6 digs.

In the second set, Harper fell behind 1-5, 11-16, 12-19 on the way to a 20-25 loss. Lauren Ahlstedt had 3 kills, and Tchohadjieva added 3 kills. Jocelyn Erling was 7-7 serving, Tchohadjieva was 4-4 serving with 2 aces.

In the third set, Harper executed far better, and led 5-1, 11-2, 16-7 and won 25-13. Tchohadjieva had 3 more kills and this set 2 blocks. Pierre continued her torrid serving with 9 of 10 serving and 3 more aces.

In the final set, Harper led 10-2, 21-7 and won 25-15. Pierre was 4-4 with 4 kills in this final set. Erling had 3 kills and a block. Hurdogan was 9-9 serving with 3 aces and had 7 digs. Tchohadjieva added 2 more aces.

Pierre finished the match 25-26 serving with NINE aces! Wow. This made her way into the Harper record book…
  • 10-18-2025  Ali Pierre, playing right side, got loose for 25-26 serving and served a Harper record 9 aces in a 4-set match against an 11 win 12 loss Triton team. She also had 10 digs and 8 kills with just 1 hitting error.
 
Harper Volleyball defeated Olive-Harvey 22-25, 25-9, 25-13, 25-11
Right after Olive-Harvey defeated Triton, Harper started out even with Olive-Harvey with ties at 4-4, 5-5, 6-6 and 9-9. Harper took slim leads of 14-10 and 17-13 before Olive-Harvey tied the score at 18-18. Harper continued to slide 19-22, 21-23, and lost 22-25. Erling was a force of nature in this set and match with 6 kills here; Tchohadjieva had 3 kills and a couple rejections. Hurdogan had 9 digs, and Raegan Frappier was 5-5 serving.

In the second set, Harper turned up its execution and led 5-3, 8-5, 17-9 for a 25-9 win. Erling had 5 more kills and a block. Frappier continued her serving tear with 11-11 serving including an ace. Hurdogan was 8-8 serving with 2 aces.

In the third set, Harper led 17-11 and won 25-13. Erling added 4 more kills and another block. Ana Kadolph was 6-6 serving. 

In the final set, Harper took control 14-7, then 16-8 on a LOOOONG rally, and won 25-11. Erling added 5 more kills on 6 attacks. Hurdogan was 5-5 serving with 2 aces.

Frappier finished the match 27-28 serving with 3 aces. Hurdogan finished the match 21-22 serving with 4 aces. Kadolph finished the match 14-14 serving.
 

Next match is home on Tuesday, October 21, against Joliet Jr. College. This will be Harper's Sophomore Night.
