Hawks Drop Regular Season Finale to MATC

Palatine, IL: The Hawks volleyball team wrapped up an impressive regular season on Thursday night, falling 3-0 to MATC in a tightly contested matchup at home. Harper finishes the regular season with a 31-13 overall record and a 16-4 mark in Region 4, setting the stage for a home playoff match next week as postseason play begins.

In the first set, Harper started out well with a 6-0 lead. MATC slowly chipped away at that lead 7-3, 9-5. At 12-8, Raegan Frappier made a miracle save. MATC closed to 14-11, then 15-15 and 16-16. MATC took command 16-20, and Harper lost this first set 18-25.

Harper started out 3-0, then 9-3 and 12-5. This time MATC closed the lead in one rotation scoring 6 points in a row to make the score 12-11. Ali Pierre ended to streak with a smash to go up 13-11. Jocelyn Erling nailed a kill to lead 16-12, but MATC tied the score, this time at 17-17 and 18-18, before taking a late 18-21 lead. At 23-23, Harper missed a key serve and lost 23-25.

The third set saw times at 1-1, 2-2, and 3-3… Harper took another early lead 8-4, but MATC tied the score at 9-9, 12-12 and 13-13. Harper went ahead 16-14 on a Mira Tchohadjieva smash. MATC tied the score once again at 18-18 and 21-2. Harper hit two out in a row and fell behind late 21-24. A block by Tchohadjieva pulled within 1 again at 23-25, but Harper lost the set again 23-25, and lost the match 0-3.
 
  • Harper finished the regular season with a VERY strong 31 wins and 13 losses and was 16-5 in the rugged Region 4. This was Harper's first home loss of the season, and finished with a 13-1 record at home.
  • Region playoff pairings come out Sunday during a coaches meeting at 10:00 a.m.
  • Due to being a higher seed for the first round of the playoffs, Harper will host the first round of the Regional Playoffs on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. 
  • The Region Semi-finals and Finals will be at Madison College, Madison, WI, on November 8th and 9th. Match times will be announced after the coaches meeting on Sunday, November 2.
  • All-Region players and All-American candidates will also be announced after the coaches meeting on Sunday, November 2.
