Hawks Show Flashes of Potential in Loss to Moraine Valley

Palatine, IL: The Hawks women's basketball team fell 89–65 to Moraine Valley on Saturday afternoon, but the Hawks showed stretches of strong play and continue to grow early in the season.

Harper trailed by 13 points at halftime before the Cyclones pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 30–7. Despite the deficit, Harper battled throughout and displayed the kind of effort and energy that the team hopes to build on moving forward.

Zariela Myles led the Hawks with an outstanding performance, scoring 33 points on 8-for-17 shooting. She knocked down three of six attempts from beyond the arc and went 14-for-17 at the free throw line. Gabriella Swanson recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, continuing her strong start to the season.

Kinsley Stillman added 11 rebounds and four steals, while Xzandria Turner contributed 10 rebounds and three steals, helping anchor the defensive effort.


The Hawks have shown they can compete in spurts, but the next step will be maintaining confidence and consistency across all four quarters. Harper will look to put it all together when they return home to face Bryant & Stratton on Tuesday, November 18.
