Hawks Face Tough Road Test at Waubonsee

Sugar Grove, IL: The Hawks women's basketball team fell 79-43 on the road at Waubonsee Community College Saturday afternoon in Erickson Hall. Waubonsee jumped out quickly and maintained a steady advantage throughout the contest, outscoring Harper in every quarter and finishing with a convincing margin. 

Harper scored 11 points in the first quarter, 8 in the second, 9 in the third, and 15 in the fourth, while Waubonsee put up 27, 23, 18, and 11 points in the same respective periods. 

Individually,
Marque Taylor led the Hawks with 13 points on 4-of-13 shooting and added 6 rebounds in 36 minutes of action. Zariela Myles scored 11 points, going 3-for-13 from the field with a three-pointer and contributing 4 rebounds and a steal. Hailey Franczkowski finished with 10 points, including two three-pointers, and provided energy on both ends. 

On the glass,
Gabriella Swanson battled inside with 14 rebounds, and the frontcourt was active despite the deficit. Kinsley Stillman chipped in 5 points and 3 rebounds, and Xzandria Turner provided 3 rebounds while defending aggressively. Harper finished with 34 total rebounds as a team. 

Overall, the Hawks shot 12 of 53 (22.6 percent) from the field and 3 of 16 (18.8 percent) from three, while converting 16 of 27 (59.3 percent) of free throws. Waubonsee countered with stronger shooting efficiency and depth, leading to the final result. 

Harper will look to regroup and sharpen its execution as it continues Region 4 play.
