Hawks Drop Home Game to Black Hawk

Palatine, IL: The Hawks men's basketball team hosted Black Hawk College on December 13 and battled throughout but ultimately fell 88-70 in Region 4 action. Black Hawk built a lead early and used balanced scoring and strong perimeter play to maintain control in the second half. Harper fought to stay competitive, but turnovers and a cold stretch from deep widened the margin as the game progressed.

Harper was led offensively by
Rashad Peeples, who finished with 19 points on 6-of-15 shooting and 5-of-11 from three-point range. Joe Calombo Kimbirima recorded a strong all-around performance with 17 points and 13 rebounds, anchoring the Hawks inside and showing a nose for the ball on the glass. Vanja Mrduljas added 11 points with hustle plays, and Kevin Edgecombe chipped in 11 points while contesting around the rim. Darrion Pippen contributed six points and energy on defense, while Oscar Engfors and Isaiah Manley provided support off the bench with three points each.

Harper shot 37.5 percent from the field and struggled from beyond the arc, making just seven of 25 attempts (28 percent). The Hawks were more effective at the free throw line, converting 15 of 22 attempts, but turnovers and points off turnovers gave Black Hawk momentum at key stretches. Harper's effort on the boards was competitive, but the visitors' depth and consistent scoring allowed them to extend their advantage in the second half.
