Hawks Fall at Home to Braves

Palatine, IL: The Hawks women's basketball team dropped a 74-52 Region 4 home game to Black Hawk College on Saturday afternoon. Harper competed throughout but could not sustain enough consistency on offense or defensively contain Black Hawk's balanced scoring attack.

Black Hawk held Harper to a 9-20 first quarter and maintained control the rest of the way, leading 41-21 at halftime before expanding in the second half. Harper battled to close the margin in the fourth but could not complete the comeback effort.

Individually,
Kinsley Stillman led Harper with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including a made three-pointer, and drew 11 free throw attempts while grabbing 9 rebounds. Marque Taylor added 13 points with 4 rebounds and 3 steals, showing energy on both ends of the floor. Xzandria Turner scored 8 points on perfect shooting (3-of-3 field goals and 1-of-1 from three) and added 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Ali Pierre made an early impact with 3 points in limited minutes.

Ariana Buss contributed 7 points, 2 assists, and a steal, and Zariela Myles added 4 points, 4 rebounds, and a steal. Hailey Franczkowski and Gabriella Swanson each saw minutes, with Swanson battling inside for 13 rebounds. Harper finished with 33 total rebounds and forced 16 turnovers, showcasing competitive effort despite the deficit.

Harper shot 18 of 61 (29.5 percent) from the field and 4 of 16 (25 percent) from three-point range while converting 15 of 24 (62.5 percent) of free throws. Black Hawk's efficiency and depth helped fuel its victory.
