Hawks Continue on to 1-7

Des Plaines, IL: The Hawks women's basketball team battled on the road Tuesday but came up short in an 85-43 loss at Oakton Community College. Oakton controlled the game throughout and built a lead in every quarter, while the Hawks continued to fight and gain valuable experience in Region 4 play. 

Harper trailed 28-10 after the first quarter and 47-27 at halftime, and the Owls kept the pressure up in the second half to secure the final margin. 

Individually,
Zariela Myles led the Hawks in scoring with 15 points on 5-of-14 shooting, including a three-pointer, and chipped in a rebound and a steal. Marque Taylor added 13 points with 6 rebounds and connected on a three-pointer. Hailey Franczkowski finished with 5 points and 1 steal, while Xzandria Turner contributed 4 points, 8 rebounds, and a steal. Gabriella Swanson battled inside for a 12-rebound effort, finishing with 6 points. Kinsley Stillman provided defensive activity with a team-high 5 steals and pulled down 5 rebounds. 

Harper shot 29.2 percent (14-48) from the field and 18.8 percent (3-16) from three-point range, while Oakton finished with stronger efficiency and depth. The Hawks made 12 of 25 free throws (48.0 percent) in the contest. 

Despite the result, Harper continued to compete and showed growth in several areas, with strong rebounding efforts from its frontcourt and contributions from multiple players on both ends of the court.
