Dearborn, MI: The Hawks had a competitive showing at the Whizzer Open, hosted by Henry Ford Community College, with several strong individual performances across the weight classes.

-
Esteban Delgado led the way with an impressive 1st place finish in the 125-pound Open division. Delgado won all of his matches decisively, including a close 4-3 victory in the final against Jacob Campbell of Henry Ford Community College. His performance earned him 12 team points.

-
Joey Sikorsky secured a solid 3rd place finish in the same weight class, scoring 9 team points. After winning by tech fall in his opening round, Sikorsky faced a tough loss in the semifinal but bounced back with a major decision in the consolation rounds to claim 3rd.

-
Delin Jones was another standout, also finishing in 3rd place in the 141-pound Open. After some early wins by fall, Jones lost in the semifinals but came back strong to secure 3rd place with a 6-4 decision.

-Jacob Crandall made it to the finals in the 174-pound Open but fell to Mustafa Salimi of Triton College in a tech fall. Despite the loss, Crandall's 2nd place finish and his two falls earlier in the tournament earned him 14 team points.

-
John Schmidt had a mixed day in the 184-pound Open, ultimately finishing 4th. He battled back in the consolation rounds, earning a win by tech fall and another by fall, but ultimately lost in the 3rd place match to Kyle Sandborn.

-
Pedro Jimenez (149-pound) and Chase McCluskey (149-pound) showed flashes of promise but couldn't make it past the early rounds, ultimately finishing with 5 and 1 team points, respectively.

-
Emmanuel Mejia and Xander Gliessner, both in the 184-pound Open, struggled in their matches, but their efforts contributed to the team's overall performance.

The Hawks will be looking to build on this experience and use it to fuel future improvements in upcoming meets. Despite some tough losses, the team showcased their depth, resilience, and potential to compete at a high level.
