Valorant Team Defeats SMSU Mustangs in 2025 Season Opener

Palatine, IL: The Hawks eSports Valorant team kicked off their 2025 spring season in commanding fashion, securing a 2-0 victory over the SMSU Mustangs. The Hawks took the series with game scores of 13-10 and 13-6, showcasing their teamwork and firepower.  

Formidable freshmen Sloth (Patrick Olechno) delivered an outstanding individual performance, racking up an impressive 73 kills across the best-of-three sweep. However, Coach Don Curley emphasized the collective effort behind the win.  

"Extremely happy with the performance of the team for their first spring season match, and everyone else who contributes to the success of our Valorant team," Curley said. "There's always going to be outstanding players on any team, what's most important is how the rest of the team pulls their weight. No one is afraid to let another player shine."  

With this strong start, the Hawks aim to keep the momentum going as they prepare to face the Missouri State Bears on February 10 at 7 PM.
