Hawks Fall in Doubleheader Against Braves

Moline, IL: The Hawks ran into a tough Black Hawk squad on Saturday, dropping both games of their Region 4 doubleheader. Game 1 was a classic pitchers' duel, with the Hawks falling 1-0 in a tightly contested battle. Game 2 saw the Braves' offense come alive, as Harper fell 13-1 in five innings.  

Tough-Luck Loss in Pitching Duel
David Essien gave the Hawks a strong outing on the mound, allowing just one run on four hits across six innings. However, Harper's offense couldn't break through, as Black Hawk's pitching kept them off the scoreboard. A lone Braves run proved to be the difference as the Hawks dropped a heartbreaker, 1-0.  

Braves' Bats Overpower Hawks
The second game was a different story, as Black Hawk's offense erupted for 13 runs in just five innings. The Hawks struggled to keep pace, managing just one run before the game ended via run rule. After a long stretch of games, Harper ran out of steam against a well-rested Braves squad.  

Looking Ahead
Despite the tough losses, the Hawks remain in strong form with an 8-3 record. After a grueling week, they'll have some time to recover before returning to action with two matchups this week—traveling to Grayslake to take on Lake County on Wednesday, followed by games against Rockford on Friday and Sunday.
