Hawks Drop Season Opener to Wolfpack

Palatine, IL: The Hawks softball team opened their 2025 season with a tough doubleheader against an experienced Madison Wolfpack squad, falling 15-2 in game one and 8-2 in game two. The Wolfpack, already boasting an 8-3 record, showcased their early-season form, while the Hawks were just getting their season underway.  

Game one saw returning ace Brianna Linnemann take the circle for Harper, but Madison's bats came alive early, putting the Hawks in an early deficit. Despite the loss, Linnemann made her presence felt at the plate, ripping a double. Ashlynn Fidalgo also added a double of her own, providing one of the Hawks' offensive highlights.  

In game two, freshman Taylor Nicholsen got the start in the circle, looking to settle the Hawks in after a tough opener. While the Hawks showed improvement, they struggled to generate enough offense against a solid Madison pitching staff.  

Though it wasn't the start Harper had hoped for, the Hawks gained valuable experience as they continue their transition to NJCAA DII. With plenty of games ahead, they'll look to bounce back and build momentum in the coming weeks.
