Hawks Split Road Doubleheader with Golden Eagles

Rockford, IL: The Hawks baseball team split their Friday doubleheader against the Rock Valley Golden Eagles, winning 9-3 in the opener before falling 3-1 in the second game.

In game one, Ethan Dorka was once again dominant on the mound, tossing a complete game with 10 strikeouts en route to his sixth win of the season. The offense gave him plenty of support, as the Hawks piled up seven different players with hits, six of whom collected two hits apiece.

The big bat belonged to Nick Drtina, who led the way with four RBIs, including a double. Joey Glozier and Kevin Geake also added doubles as the Hawks took control early and never looked back.

In game two, the offense wasn't able to carry over the momentum. Drtina took the mound this time, delivering a solid outing with six innings pitched and just three runs allowed, but the Harper bats were held in check. The team managed just three hits, with Geake's second double of the day being the only extra-base knock.

The Hawks will look to bounce back quickly as they return home for a matchup against Kennedy-King on Saturday.
