Hawks Split Doubleheader at Morton in Coaches’ Return

Cicero, IL: The Hawks baseball team hit the road Friday for a meaningful doubleheader against Morton College, the former program of Head Coach Dom Milano and Assistant Coach Mason Schaller, both of whom played for the Panthers in 2021. The Hawks came out swinging in game one, earning a dominant 19-5 win in five innings, before falling in a back-and-forth battle in game two, 10-7.

In the opener,
Ethan Dorka took the mound and made history, earning his seventh win of the season—now the most in a single season in Hawks baseball history. Dorka pitched 4.2 innings, striking out eight, before Daniel Broeker came in to close it out. The offense was electric, led by Spencer Geake, Michael Mango, and Kevin Geake, who each recorded three hits. (S) Geake and Mango both went deep, while (K) Geake and Cameron King added doubles. The Hawks stayed aggressive on the bases as five different players swiped bags.

Game two saw the Panthers respond with a strong performance, fueled by a five-run fourth inning that gave them the edge.
Zach Zalewski started the game with Zack Labrec taking over in relief. Offensively, Joey Glozier launched a home run, Brayden Clancy laced a triple, and Mango added a double, but the comeback effort came up short.

The Hawks will look to rebound on Saturday at home against the Kennedy-King Statesmen.
