Hawks Sweep Statesmen in Saturday Doubleheader

Palatine, IL: The Hawks took care of business at home on Saturday, sweeping the Kennedy-King Statesmen in a dominant doubleheader. Harper won game one 14-4 in five innings, then closed out game two 14-4 in six to improve their overall record and build momentum heading into next week.

In the opener,
Joey Woods earned his first win of the season, tossing four innings before handing the ball to Jeremy Florez for one inning of relief. While the Hawks racked up 14 runs, they only had eight hits, with just one going for extra bases—a double from Cameron King. The team took advantage of multiple defensive miscues by the Statesmen and swiped four bases to keep pressure on the defense throughout.

In game two,
David Essien got the start and earned his second win, striking out six batters over three innings. Spencer Geake came in to finish it off. The Hawks stayed aggressive on the basepaths with three more stolen bases and added two doubles to their total. Gustavo Vivas led the offense with three RBIs, helping the team seal another mercy-rule victory.

The Hawks will get a few days of rest before returning to action Wednesday at home against McHenry.
