Hawks Open 2025 Season at Joliet

Joliet, IL: The women's soccer team opened its 2025 campaign on the road Tuesday, falling 8-0 to Joliet Junior College.

With the roster still being built, the Hawks played shorthanded with just 10 players available. After 30 minutes, Grace Nikolakakis left the match due to a minutes restriction, leaving Harper to battle with only nine on the field for the remainder of the game.

Despite the uphill challenge, goalkeeper Lesly Garcia delivered an impressive performance with 15 saves, keeping the Hawks competitive throughout. Lydia Ilc earned Hawks Player of the Game honors after stepping into an unfamiliar role and delivering an inspiring effort.

"Lydia played every minute with determination and heart, stepping up in a new position outside her comfort zone to help the team," said head coach Chip Lemberg. "Her effort and team-first attitude set the tone for us today."


The Hawks will look to regroup quickly as they continue their early-season road stretch, traveling to College of Lake County on Friday.
