Hawks Split Matches Against Dallas Teams at DuPage

Glen Ellyn, IL: Harper Volleyball traveled to College of DuPage on Friday , September 5, 2026 for the DuPage Invitational. They defeated Dallas College – North Lake Campus in 5 sets, 25-19, 22-25, 24-26 in a squeaker, 25-10, and 15-10; 
In the second match of the day, Harper Volleyball lost to Dallas College – Eastfield in straight sets 17-25, 19-25, 26-28 in another squeaker.

Last time Harper College played Eastfield was in the NJCAA Division III National Championship match back in 2017.
Eastfield won the national championship in 4 sets.

Marielle Lugo was on that 2017 Runner-up team.

Harper College defeated Dallas College – North Lake (3:00 PM) 25-19, 22-25, 24-26, 25-10, 15-10
The first set was close, with ties at 6-6 and 7-7. Harper took a slim 17-14 lead, stretched the lead to 21-15 and won 25-19.
Jocelyn Erling was on-fire with 8 kills on 13 attacks. Selin Hurdogan had 8 digs, and was 9-9 serving with an ace.

In the second set, Harper fell behind 5-9, then 10-17, but closed the gap to 16-18 and 21-23, before losing 22-25.
Lauren Ahlstedt caught fire with 6 kills on 10 attacks. Hurdogan was 4-4 serving with 2 aces.

In the third set, it started out 4-4, but then Harper led 11-9 and 15-10, and even 18-10, but let North Lake close the gap 20-15. Harper held a seemingly safe 23-18 lead, but let it slip to 23-23… then 24-24 and then a 24-26 loss.
Ahlstedt had another 4 kills. Hurdogan had 5 more digs and was 7-7 serving.

Harper Volleyball truly rebounded in the 4th set with leads of 8-1, and 13-3 before winning 25-10.
Ahlstedt, Erling and Kylie Chojnowski each had 3 kills in this set. Chojnowski added 2 blocks. Erling was 6-6 serving with 2 aces.

In the final set, Harper Volleyball was indeed on a mission, and took a 8-2 lead at the switch, then extended to 12-6 and 13-7 before winning 15-10.
Chojnowski was crazy-good with 6 kills and another block in this deciding set. Hurdogan had 6 digs, and was 7-7 serving.

For the match,
Hurdogan was 32-32 serving and 4 aces. The Harper College record for most serves in a match is 35 set all the way back in 2014 by setter Lindsey Murphy… against Rock Valley (10/17/2014).

Harper College lost to Dallas College – Eastfield (5:00 PM) 17-25, 19-25, 26-28
Harper Volleyball started out playing well, but tied at 4-4, but then fell behind 8-12, 10-14 and 12-16, before losing 17-25.
Erling was a force in the first set with 5 kills. Destiny Parsons started the match with 8 smashes that Eastfield dug up. Hurdogan had 8 digs.

In the second set, Harper was tied at 7-7, but then fell behind 8-13 after 3 hitting errors in a row. Harper narrowed the gap to 13-15 and even 16-17, but lost 19-25.
Erling continued her tear with 5 more kills. Parsons finally got her 4 kills on 6 attacks. Hurdogan added 6 more digs.

In the final set, Harper was trailing most of the set, but caught up at 19-21 and then 21-21… then more ties at 23-23, 24-24, 25-25, and 26-26 before falling 26-28.
Parsons had 4 kills on 8 attacks. Chojnowski and Erling each had 3 kills. Hurdogan added 5 more digs for a team-high 19 digs.
