Hawks Fall on the Road at MATC

Milwaukee, WI: The Hawks women's basketball team suffered a 78-42 loss Tuesday night at Milwaukee Area Technical College, as the Stormers used efficient scoring and depth to build a large lead and finish strong.. Harper competed in spurts but could not keep pace with MATC's consistent offensive attack.

Harper scored 14 in the first quarter, 13 in the second, 10 in the third, and 5 in the fourth, while MATC opened with a 25-6 first quarter and continued to control the tempo throughout.

Individually,
Ariana Buss led the Hawks with 9 points, going 2 of 11 from the field and 1 of 2 from three, while adding 3 assists and 1 steal. Kinsley Stillman and Xzandria Turner each scored 7 points, with Stillman adding 7 rebounds and Turner going 1 of 8 from the floor with 4 free throws made. Hailey Franczkowski finished with 5 points and 1 rebound, Zariela Myles had 4 points and 1 rebound, and Marque Taylor scored 7 points off 3 of 14 shooting with 1 rebound and 4 steals. Gabriella Swanson finished with 3 points and 7 rebounds, continuing her strong presence on the glass.

Harper shot 24.1 percent (14 of 58) overall and 30.8 percent (4 of 13) from three, while making 10 of 14 free throws in the contest. The Stormers countered with a 57.1 percent shooting efficiency and 41.7 percent from long range as they built separation.

Despite the loss, Harper showed fight, especially in the first half, and will look to regroup and tighten execution as the team continues into the second half of the season.
