Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hawks Competitive but Fall at College of DuPage

Glen Ellyn, IL: The Hawks women's basketball team played with determination on the road Saturday at College of DuPage but ultimately came up short 67-51. Harper hung tough through all four quarters and showed progress in effort and execution, yet DuPage's balanced scoring and home-court advantage were key factors in the final outcome.

DuPage used a strong first half to set the tone, outscoring Harper 15-4 in the first quarter and 23-13 in the second to take a 38-17 lead into halftime. The Hawks battled back in the second half, outscoring the Chaparrals 16-17 in the third and 18-12 in the fourth, but could not erase the early deficit.

Offensively,
Marque Taylor led Harper with 16 points, shooting 7-of-15 from the field and knocking down a three, alongside 9 rebounds and 3 steals in 33 minutes. Ariana Buss added 14 points, including 3 three-pointers, while contributing 2 assists and 1 steal. Xzandria Turner scored 8 points with 8 rebounds, and Kinsley Stillman chipped in 4 points with 4 rebounds and 6 assists in a strong all-around showing. Hailey Franczkowski contributed 5 points with one made three-pointer, and Zariela Myles added 3 points and 4 rebounds in extended minutes.

The Hawks shot 31.6 percent from the field and 28.0 percent from three, while converting 57.1 percent of their free throws. DuPage's efficiency and rebounding edge helped them control the pace in the early stages of the game.

Although the loss adds to Harper's overall record, the team's resilience in the second half and balanced contributions from multiple players highlight growth as the Hawks continue their season.
