Hawks Wrap Up Missouri Trip with Competitive Doubleheader Effort

St. Louis, MO: The Hawks baseball team closed out its Missouri road swing on Saturday with a pair of hard-fought games, narrowly falling 7–6 to Jefferson College before dropping the nightcap 13–4 to Kansas City Kansas Community College.

In the opener, the Hawks came up just short against Jefferson despite a strong offensive showing. Harper erupted for five runs in the third inning to take an early lead, but the Vikings battled back to edge out t
he one-run win. Alex Tabbert doubled and continued to be a steady force in the middle of the lineup, while on the mound, Riley Blackwell and David Essien each struck out six batters in quality performances.

The Hawks showed resilience again in game two against the Blue Devils, keeping pace early before Kansas City pulled away late to win 13–4. Harper's offense continued to make progress, with Tabbert adding a triple and several hitters contributing to a more balanced attack. Five different Hawks took the mound, giving the pitching staff another opportunity to gain experience against top-level competition.

The weekend wrapped up a demanding stretch of early-season games against NJCAA Division I opponents, giving Harper a valuable test before moving into their regular schedule. The Hawks will look to build on what they learned when they face NJCAA Division II Region 24 opponent Lincoln Land next.
