Craig Genteman Named Harper College Head Men’s Soccer Coach

Palatine, IL: Harper College Director of Athletics Dr. Cedric M. Brown has announced the hiring of Craig Genteman as the new head coach of the Harper Hawks men's soccer program, effective immediately.

Genteman brings more than a decade of coaching experience and deep roots in the Northwest suburban soccer community. Most recently, he served as a coach with Chicago Inferno Soccer Club, working with both boys' and girls' teams. Prior to that role, he coached with Palatine Celtic Soccer Club, continuing to build a reputation for player development and tactical instruction. His coaching career began while he was serving on active duty in the United States Army, where he worked with local clubs during his military service.

A native of the Harper College area, Genteman attended William Fremd High School and competed for several prominent local soccer clubs, including Sockers FC Chicago and Eclipse Select SC. Following his graduation from Fremd, he enlisted in the United States Army as a combat medic attached to infantry units.

Genteman completed multiple deployments to Iraq during his eleven years of service and was medically retired after sustaining injuries during those deployments. While serving on active duty, he continued his involvement in soccer by competing for the All Army Sports Program men's soccer team, though his participation was eventually limited by increased deployment cycles during the Global War on Terrorism.

After concluding his military career, Genteman returned to the Palatine area and began his collegiate studies at Harper College before transferring to Northern Illinois University, where he graduated in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in political science with an emphasis in public administration and public policy.

Genteman also holds an extensive list of coaching credentials. He possesses several U.S. Soccer Federation National Coaching Licenses, the United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma, United Soccer Coaches Performance Analysis Level 1 and Level 2 Diplomas, Barça Coach Academy Levels I and II, and the La Liga Formation Methodology Level 3 Certification.

With strong local ties, extensive coaching education, and a background rooted in service and leadership, Genteman brings a well-rounded perspective to the Harper men's soccer program as the Hawks prepare for the upcoming season.
