Hawks Come Up Just Short in Doubleheader Against Kankakee

Kankakee, IL: The Hawks were within striking distance in both games of their doubleheader against Kankakee but ultimately fell 9-7 and 7-6 in a pair of tightly contested matchups.

In game one, the Hawks' offense showed balance and timely hitting.
Taylor Nicholson and Bella Kmilek each drove in two runs to lead the way, with Kmilek also delivering a triple. Hallie Pendleton added a double as Harper kept pace with Kankakee throughout, but a late push by the Cavaliers proved to be the difference.

Game two was another back-and-forth battle.
Kmilek continued her strong day at the plate with two more RBIs and added a stolen base. Gabi Phillis, Julianna Gonzalez, and Jordan Murtaugh each contributed an RBI, while Phillis also swiped a base. Despite the continued offensive production, the Hawks came up just one run short.

While the results didn't fall their way, the Hawks showed clear progress in competing in close games. Harper will look to carry that momentum into a four-game tournament this weekend.
