Hawks Earn First Win in Weekend Finale Against Prairie State

Ottawa, IL: The Hawks battled through a challenging four-game weekend slate, facing DuPage, Waubonsee, Lake County, and Prairie State. After dropping their first three contests, the Hawks closed the weekend on a high note, earning their first win of the season with a thrilling 5-4 comeback victory over Prairie State.

The weekend opened with a competitive 13-9 loss to DuPage.
Hallie Pendleton led the offensive effort with three RBIs, while Pendleton, McKenzie Matzl, and Destiny Nino each recorded doubles. The Hawks stayed within reach throughout but were unable to complete the comeback.

Against Waubonsee, Harper fell 14-1, with
Pendleton again providing the lone RBI. The Hawks then dropped a 9-0 decision to Lake County, struggling to generate offense against strong pitching.

The highlight of the weekend came in the finale against Prairie State. Trailing late, the Hawks rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure a 5-4 victory.
Gabi Phillis, Julianna Gonzalez, Pendleton, and Whitney Schnack each drove in a run during the comeback. Schnack also contributed a double at the plate and delivered in the circle, earning her first win of the season while striking out seven batters.

The Hawks will look to build on that momentum as they prepare for their next matchup against Rock Valley on April 13th.
