Tisza Takes Title at Wisconsin Open

SOMERS, Wis. – At Saturday's 43rd Annual Wisconsin Open hosted by UW-Parkside, Harper College sophomore wrestler Blake Tisza (/Thornton Fractional South) went a perfect 3-0 on the day and took first place at 157 pounds.

After receiving a first round bye, Tisza won by fall over Minnesota's Dylan Urbach to reach the semifinals. In his semifinal match, he topped UW-Whitewater's Kory Jauch 12-4 to reach the first place match. Tisza dominated the title match, winning 16-1 over Triton's Ryan Fulton. The win was Tisza's second individual championship of the year.

Kerin Ramirez (/Addison Trail) also had a strong showing for the Harper wrestling team, taking fifth place with a 3-2 record at 141 pounds. Ramirez started the day with win a 19-13 win over North Central's Justin McGady, and he followed it up with a 9-4 triumph over Robert Uttecht. He dropped his next two matches but rebounded to win the fifth place match, 9-5, over Triton's Michael Malles.

The Hawks return to the mat on Saturday, Dec. 13 for the Art Kraft Memorial Open at Triton College.
