Hawks Sweep Region 4 Duals on Sophomore Night

Palatine, IL: The Hawks wrestling team delivered a dominant performance on home turf, sweeping the Region 4 Duals on Saturday, February 7. The Hawks went 3-0 in team competition, defeating Bryant & Stratton (42-12), Joliet (48-0), and Triton (36-12) to close out their home schedule in emphatic fashion. The event also served as Sophomore Night, as Harper honored nine wrestlers who have been instrumental in the program's success.

The Hawks recognized Truth Vesey (125 lb), Esteban Delgado (125 lb), Lennon Steinkuehler (141 lb), Kolin Little (149 lb), Benny Butler (157 lb), Maguire Hoeksema (157 lb), Aiden Cohen (165 lb), Evan Kachigian (184 lb), and Cameron Lattimore (197 lb) before competition began. The veteran group helped guide Harper to another dominant showing against regional opponents, setting the tone for the postseason.

Against Bryant & Stratton, Harper cruised to a 42-12 team victory. The Hawks followed that with a shutout over Joliet, 48-0, controlling every match from start to finish. In the finale against Triton, Harper faced its toughest test of the day but still prevailed convincingly, 36-12, with strong showings in the middle and upper weights to seal the sweep.

The Hawks now turn their attention to the Great Lakes District Championship, the final step before the NJCAA National Championship in early March. With momentum on their side and several wrestlers ranked among the nation's best, Harper appears poised for another deep postseason run.
