Hawks Continue Climb in Latest Open Mat Rankings

Palatine, IL: The Hawks wrestling team continued its upward trend in the latest Open Mat Rankings for January 30–February 5, 2026, moving up one spot to 9th overall in the nation. The Hawks remain 2nd among non-scholarship programs, trailing only last year's NJCAA runner-up SUNY Niagara, which sits just ahead at 8th. Harper also held steady at 15th in the team dual rankings heading into a pivotal stretch of the season.

Individually, the Hawks continue to make their presence felt in the national standings.
Truth Vesey (125 lb) stayed locked in at No. 2 for the second straight week, maintaining his spot among the NJCAA's elite lightweights. Maguire Hoeksema (157 lb) climbed one position to 8th, reflecting his continued consistency through recent tournaments. Aiden Cohen (165 lb) remained steady at 6th, and Joshua King (285 lb) moved up to 7th, giving Harper four nationally ranked wrestlers across key weight classes.

With the program's national profile on the rise, the Hawks now turn their attention to hosting the Region 4 Duals this weekend—a home event that will also serve as the team's Sophomore Night, honoring the leadership and impact of Harper's veteran wrestlers.
