CHICAGO, Ill. – The Harper College wrestling team competed at the 2015 Chicago Duals on Saturday at the University of Chicago. The Hawks earned a victory over Manchester University before losing matches to the University of Dubuque and University of Chicago to close out the day.
Harper started the day with a 40-12 win over Manchester. Jacob Bellis (/Bloomington), Dusan Bogicevic (/Larkin), Matthew Conrad (/Barrington), Nenif Keso (/Maine East), Steven Straka (/Glenbard South), David Perez (/Larkin) and Chance Shea (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) all earned victories in their matches. Every Hawks wrestle who earned a victory did so by fall except for Shea, who earned a convincing 14-3 victory over opponent Alex Roberts.
Pitted against a tough University of Dubuque squad in their second match, the Hawks lost 27-15. Conrad won his second match of the day at 141 pounds, a 14-7 victory over Stephen Rosenburg. Jonathan Denikas (/Antioch) picked up a 5-2 win over the Spartan's Manny Mendoza. Shea won another match handedly at 184 pounds, this time a 16-5 major decision over Michael Ladaika. In the heavyweight division, Kameran Hardwick (/Lake Park) scored a victory by fall over opponent Dan Howell.
Harper lost its final match, 30-21, to the University of Chicago. Bellis picked up his second win at 125 pounds with a pin of Devan Richter. Matt Kitsis (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) also won by pin against UC's Samuel Koenig, and Perez tallied another victory with a 13-6 decision over opponent Ryan Walsh.
The Hawks travel to Fort Wayne, IN for the National Duals Jan. 9-10.
