CHICAGO, Ill. – The Harper College wrestling team wrestled at the 2016 Chicago Duals on Saturday at the University of Chicago, its first meet of the 2015-16 season that featured dual matches. Harper defeated Manchester University in its opening match but lost to the host team, University of Chicago, to end the day.
The Hawks defeated Manchester in come-from-behind fashion by the score of 26-23, getting a crucial pin at 197 from Logan Nesselrodt (Bourbonnais, Ill. /Bradley-Bourbonnais ) and a three-point win from Kameran Hardwick (/Lake Park) in the heavyweight match. Nesselrodt pinned his opponent Brian Clark just 52 seconds into the match, and Hardwick earned a 9-6 win over Nick Joyner.
At 125 pounds, Ian Mullen (McHenry, Ill. /McHenry West) pinned up a 22-5 technical fall win over Alan Mock, and Cory Pych (/South Elgin) pinned his opponent Josh Juarez at the 1:32 mark. The Hawks' John Makey (Grayslake, Ill. /Grayslake Central ) also won by fall, defeating Bryce Roberts in 2:03.
Harper College ran into a tough opponent in the University of Chicago, losing 31-22. Mullen won his second match of the day, pinning Louis Demarco in the latter stages of his match. Pych picked up another win by pinning Mason Williams at the 1:08 mark. Finally, Nesselrodt got his second win of the day with a narrow 6-5 decision over Ryan Walsh.
