PALATINE, IL-Â The #1 ranked Harper College men's cross country team set an NJCAA-record by winning their eighth consecutive National Title in Holyoke, MA on Saturday.
Heading into the national meet having just been named the #1 Division III program by the USTFCCCA, the Hawks did not disappoint on the big stage. All five runners who scored for the Hawks finished in the top-12 on the way to their meet-low 38 points.Â
Michael Sisko (/Harvest Christian-Elgin) was Harper's top finisher, taking 5th place with a time of 27:40.46. The next three finishers were all Harper Hawks, as Tony Espinosa (27:44.31, 6th ),
Jacob Melgosa (/Jacobs)Â (27:49.70, 7th), and
Jeff Glatz (/Lake Zurich) (27:51.76, 8th) were behind Sisko. The last runner scoring for the Hawks was
Jack Casey (/Barrington), who's time of 28:01.16 was good for 12th place.
The 38 points scored by the Hawks was the second-lowest total they've had in their 8-year championship run, trailing only the 2014 team who scored an incredible 28 points.
