PALATINE, IL- The Harper College men and women's cross country teams traveled to Lake Forest on Friday to participate in the Forester Invitational. The Hawks were the only junior college out of the 5 participants and still managed to take second place.
Women's Results- 44 points, 2nd place
The Hawks had a strong showing from their women as they placed three runners in the top-6 and all five who scored points finished no worse than 17th. The sophomore trio of Taylor Kreiss (4th, 24:58.2),
Misbah Baig (/Hoffman Estates) (5th, 25:05.9), and
Rachael Temple (/Grant) (25:13.0) paced the team. Freshman
Roxanne Temple (/Grant) finished in 12th place with a time of 26:02.6 and
Jessi Gessner (/Jacobs)'s time of 27:05.7 was good for 17th.
Men's Results- 40 points, 2nd place
The men had a great all around showing as they placed 4 runners in the top-10 and all seven participants finished in the top-16. Sophomore
Michael Sisko (/Harvest Christian-Elgin) paced all Harper runners with a fourth place finish and a time of 27:38.2. Tony Espinosa (6th, 27:48.3),
Jacob Melgosa (/Jacobs) (9th, 27:59.3), and
Jeff Glatz (/Lake Zurich) (10th, 28:02.1) rounded out the Hawks' top-10 group. Sophomore
Jack Casey (/Barrington) finished just .6 seconds behind Glatz and finished in 11th place.
Harper will travel to Rock Island on Friday to race in the Augustana Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3pm.
